Best Time to Go

The best time to visit Kathmandu majorly depends on your personal preferences and what you anticipate exploring during your stay. If its for sightseeing in the vibrant city or festival that you want to be a part of or others. 

Nevertheless, it is generally autumn months from September to November are seen to be the prime time to visit Kathmandu.This is the time when the weather is actually mild, with clear blue skies and perfect temperature, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Plus, the biggest festival of the country lies within this time of the year called “Dashain and Tihar”. Both festivals are observed with immense joy and eagerness across Nepal; particularly in Kathmandu, where you can witness the festivities firsthand.

Secondly, another good time to visit is during the spring months of March to May, when the weather is  pleasant, and the city is in full bloom with rhododendrons and other flowers. The spring visit is also a well-liked choice, especially opted more for trekking, and you can see that the city is filled with tourists.

 

The summer months of June to August are monsoon season in Kathmandu. It holds heavy rainfalls that can make sightseeing and trekking challenging. However, if you are one who actually enjoys rain thoroughly and wants to experience the city in a different atmosphere, this can be a good time to visit as the city is seen lush and green and feels very fresh.

Winter months in Kathmandu i.e. from December to February can be chilling cold. However,  if you don’t find the cold bothersome and want to experience the winter festivities and cultural events, this can be a great time to visit.
