Dhulikhel is a very amazing place in Nepal. It is just 30 kilometers southeast of Kathmandu. So it is close enough to get there easily. However, not far enough to completely escape the craziness of the city. It is a quiet Newari town and is perfect if you are looking for some peace from all the noise.
The town’s been around for 500 years. Back in the day, it was a big stop on the trade route to Tibet. But now, it is more of a place where you can just slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy your holiday. And the views are insanely beautiful. You get to see over 20 Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna, Lhotse, Ganesh, Gauri Shankar, and Langtang. So yeah, the scenery is just mind-blowing.
Dhulikhel is like stepping back in time and heading to the past. It’s a Newari cultural wonderland. The ancient temples, and those amazing old buildings all will make you feeling great. It has great wood carvings. Additionally, the whole Newari culture vibe is something—it is like a living museum. Plus, the way people live there is so authentic. So, if you are a lover of culture and history, this place is a must-see.
Whether you are just stopping by for a day, planning a hike, or simply want to relax, Dhulikhel is going to leave you feeling refreshed.
Dhulikhel is best to visit during the spring season. Spring, starting in March and lasting through May, is a time of renewal. Autumn is yet another great time to visit Dhulikhel. It starts from September to November. Autumn presents a very different kind of charm too. The weather is very mild. It is perfect for leisure walks and outdoor activities. As with spring, the clear skies provide great views of the Himalayas too. So, these times of the year therefore provide an exceptional time to see the Himalayas. During these times of the year, one can go for treks without much of the hurdles as the trails are dry and the views are perfect.
