Mukinath Yatra is for those who are deeply devotees of Lord Vishnu. The Muktinath temple is a sacred site for both Hinduism and Buddhism. It is located in Muktinath Valley at an elevation of almost 3800m. Situated 48km north of Jomsom, Muktinath is a lord of Salvation. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bishnu, where Hindus considered it as “ Mukti Chhetri” and Buddhists as “ Bodhisattvas”. For Buddhists, it is a place where Guru Rinpoche meditated during his way to Tibet. So, they considered this place as sacred. The major attraction of Muktinath is its Pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Besides, the 108 water sprouts that lie backyard of the temple is another prime attraction of Muktinath where the devotees take a ritual bath. Similarly, there is a nearby temple “Jwala Mai” where an eternal blue flame keeps on burning.
One can explore the ancient architecture, religious norms as well as natural scenario that this place offers. The Temple is at the lap of the Himalayas so, you can witness the stunning view of the Himalayan range. You can visit the nearby place and explore the culture and tradition of the people living around the temple. This Tour to Muktinath is a short tour that lets you explore the heritage site in Kathmandu along with the natural sites in Pokhara and the pilgrimage place Muktinath itself. Today you will visit another Hindu temple, Manakamana which is on the way to Pokhara. Early morning after breakfast we will drive for 4 hours and reach another Hindu temple in Gorkha. We will then experience 10 min of the cable car ride above the hills, enjoying the natural landscapes below, and experience the true dignity of Manakamana temple. It is a sacred place of Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati. The temple is four-storied with pagoda-style roofs and set in a square that looks across a massive sacred magnolia tree. The word “mana” means heart and “Kamana” meaning wish in Nepal. Therefore, it is believed that one’s wish will be granted in this temple. After visiting the temple, we will again ride a 10 min cable car and return back. We will have our lunch and continue our drive to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, if we have time, we will stop at Benas Tal. However, boating there is optional. We will then drive to the hotel in Pokhara.
