Your Experience

Mukinath Yatra is for those who are deeply devotees of Lord Vishnu. The Muktinath temple is a sacred site for both Hinduism and Buddhism. It is located in Muktinath Valley at an elevation of almost 3800m. Situated 48km north of Jomsom, Muktinath is a lord of Salvation. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bishnu, where Hindus considered it as “ Mukti Chhetri” and Buddhists as “ Bodhisattvas”. For Buddhists, it is a place where Guru Rinpoche meditated during his way to Tibet. So, they considered this place as sacred. The major attraction of Muktinath is its Pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Besides, the 108 water sprouts that lie backyard of the temple is another prime attraction of Muktinath where the devotees take a ritual bath. Similarly, there is a nearby temple “Jwala Mai” where an eternal blue flame keeps on burning.

One can explore the ancient architecture, religious norms as well as natural scenario that this place offers. The Temple is at the lap of the Himalayas so, you can witness the stunning view of the Himalayan range. You can visit the nearby place and explore the culture and tradition of the people living around the temple. The Mukinath Yatra starts with an early drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. After a full day sightseeing tour at Pokhara, we will take the next day’s early flight to Jomsom. The flight takes about 20 min. After landing at Jomsom airport we will drive in a Jeep for another hour. Because of the unstable road condition, it will be difficult to drive any other vehicles besides Jeep. After an hour of drive, we will hike for another half an hour to reach the temple. If you are unable to walk, you can even hire a horse on the way to the Temple. Upon reaching Muktinath, we will visit the temple and nearby places and return to Jomsom and spend the night at Jomsom. Likewise, we will fly to Pokhara and drive to Kathmandu, which is the starting and ending city for the Muktinath Tour.

      Itinerary

      Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu

      You will land at the land of the Himalayas enjoying all the scenic views that your flight offers. Your representative will pick you up from the Airport terminal and transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and also popular as the city of temples. After transferring you to the hotel we will introduce you to your Guides. They will give you a short briefing about the tour. However, in the evening you can either stroll around the tourist hub place in Thamel or rest in the hotel. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

      Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing

      Today is the day when you will explore the capital city of Nepal. You will spend your whole day visiting the ancient Hindu temples and places in Kathmandu. Early morning after breakfast, gather the energy for the full-day exploration of the city. Starting with Pashupatinath, one of the greatest Hindu temples where Lord Shiva is worshipped, we will then explore several Hindu pilgrimage sites in Kathmandu. Pashupatinath is the biggest Hindu temple on the bank of the holy river Bagmati. It is one of the UNESCO listed cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu. From Pashupatinath, we will drive to Budhanilkantha, an open-air Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated below Shivapuri hills and also known as Narayanthan Temple. The word Budhanilkantha stands for “Old Blue Throat” and the main statue is a black stone structure carved from a single block of black basalt. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu

      Day 3 Drive to Manakamana and then drive to Pokhara

      Today you will visit another Hindu temple, Manakamana which is on the way to Pokhara. Early morning after breakfast we will drive for 4 hours and reach another Hindu temple in Gorkha. We will then experience 10 min of the cable car ride above the hills, enjoying the natural landscapes below, and experience the true dignity of Manakamana temple. It is a sacred place of Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati. The temple is four-storied with pagoda-style roofs and set in a square that looks across a massive sacred magnolia tree. The word “mana” means heart and “Kamana” meaning wish in Nepal. Therefore, it is believed that one’s wish will be granted in this temple. After visiting the temple, we will again ride a 10 min cable car and return back. We will have our lunch and continue our drive to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, if we have time, we will stop at Benas Tal. However, boating there is optional. We will then drive to the hotel in Pokhara. In the evening, one must go out to attend the live music or cultural shows in Pokhara. This is what night in Pokhara is actually famous for. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

      Day 4 Pokhara Sightseeing

      Today is the day when you will have to wake up a little earlier than the remaining day to catch the sunrise view from Sarangkot in Pokhara. Early morning you will drive to Sarangkot, a major viewpoint to view the sunrise as well as the view of the Himalayas. You will witness the stunning view of Mount Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri. The view of the sunrise striking over these peaks is a moment to capture in Sarangkot. After spending a couple of hours there, you will drive back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will have a full day sightseeing tour at Pokhara starting with Phewa lake. Boating in Phewa lake takes us to another Hindu temple Tal Barahi. The temple lies in the middle of Phewa Lake on a small island. Tal Barahi is dedicated to Ajima in the boar manifestation, representative of the force of Shakti. Besides, lakes and Himalayas Pokhara has other things to offer to visitors such as ancient caves and museums. So, during our visit to Pokhara, we will visit Mahendra cave, Gupteshowr cave, Bat cave, Birendra cave, etc. later, we will visit David’s fall and Seti River Gorge. In the evening, the street of Pokhara is full of concerts and gigs. The nightlife of Pokhara is something to bargain about. so, you can either go for the live music or enjoy the traditional performance in Pokhara at night. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

      Day 5 Fly to Jomsom and drive to Muktinath temple

      We will take an early morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom which takes about 20 to 25 minutes. The scenic flight to Jomsom takes you over the Kali Gandaki Gorge to the southern edge of the Mustang Region. Likewise, you will enjoy the stunning view of the Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and the entire Annapurna Himal. From Jomsom, we will drive to Ranipauwa and then hike for half an hour to reach the temple. However, those of you who are unable to walk can even hire a horse. Upon reaching Muktinath temple one can bathe under 108 water springs and two holy ponds. The temple is popular as Mukti Kshetra or the abode of salvation among the Hindus. Besides, you will visit a small pagoda-style temple where Lord Vishnu is worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhists. Buddhists worship the deity as one of the Bodhisattvas whereas Hindus as Mukti Kshetri. Therefore, after exploration of the temple, we will spend the evening visiting nearby places and drive back to Jomsom. Overnight at hotel in Jomsom Note: The flight to and from Jomsom could be delayed or cancelled due to bad weather. In this case, you can take a private Jeep direcly to Muktinah which takes 8-9 hours drive.

      Day 6 Fly to Pokhara

      From Jomsom, we will take an early flight to Pokhara with the stunning scenario of landscapes as well as the high Himalayas. After that, we will spend the remaining time exploring Pokhara visiting the place which we have missed during our previous sightseeing. Starting with the Shanti Stupa, which is half an hour drive uphill in Pokhara, we will then visit Bindabashani temple. From Bindabashani temple, we will drive to the International mountain museum which records and exhibits the past and present developments related to mountaineering. Then, we will have a wonderful evening at the lakeside of Pokhara enjoying gigs and cultural performances. Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara.

      Day 7 Drive back to Kathmandu

      Early morning after breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu.  The distance from Pokhara to Kathmandu is 200.8km which takes about 6-7 hours of drive. Besides, the drive lets you experience some of the panoramic sceneries along the way. You will drive by the bank of the Trishuli river. You can witness the amazing greenery hills, terrace farming, and moreover the natural landscapes of Nepal. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will have a farewell dinner at some typical Nepalese restaurants. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

      Day 8 Departure

      After 8 days of pilgrimage tour in Nepal, today you will bid farewell to the country. Early morning depending upon your flight time, you can either shop or prepare for your departure. Our representative will pick you up from the designated place and transfer you to the airport to board on flight for your onward destination.
