Hinduism is considered one of the oldest religions in the world. Also, Hinduism has mostly flourished in Nepal, India, and some South Asian nations. However, Nepal is a secular country with a majority of Hinduism. Being the oldest followed religion, there have been several temples and heritage sites since ancient times. The ancient Hindu and cultural sites reflect ancient art and architecture. Several temples were built during the Malla regime. Besides, Nepal is commonly the country with temples and recognized by the world for its religious and cultural sites along with natural diversity. Being a small country in southern Asia, Nepal is highly influenced by religious and cultural sites. There are highly sacred sites such as Pashupatinath which is one of the major temples for Hindus all over the world.
The tour starts with the Sightseeing tour at Kathmandu. The sightseeing includes major Hindu sites such as Pashupatinath, Gueshowri, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Pashupatinath and Gueshowri are close to each other. Gueshowri is 1km east of Pashupatinath. Then the day ends with our visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is a place where the living goddess Kumari is worshipped at Kumara Bahal. Then the next day of the tour begins with a scenic drive to Dakshinkali where Goddess Kali is worshipped. From Dakshinkali we will drive to another oldest heritage site in Kathmandu, Swayambhunath. It is a shrine for both Hinduism and Buddhism.
Then for the next day, we will drive early to Manakamana Temple in Gorkha. It is a sacred place of Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati. The temple is four-storied with pagoda-style roofs and set in a square that looks across a massive sacred magnolia tree. Then from Manakamana, we will again drive to Pokhara enjoying the natural scenario that the road offers. Our sightseeing in Pokhara starts with a sunrise view at Sarangkot and then to Tal Barahi, Bindabasini temple, and several other caves.
Flying over the Himalayas and enjoying the natural landscapes as well as a drastic view from your flight you will land at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our Airport representative will pick you up from the Airport terminal and transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu. Then we will introduce you to your guide and they will give you a short briefing about the tour. After the introduction, you can either stroll around the city or rest in the hotel and be ready for the next day sightseeing of the whole city. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Today we will visit some of the famous Hindu sites in Kathmandu and yes when it is about Hindu sites how can someone miss Pashupatinath? We will start our sightseeing from one of the sacred Hindu sites in Kathmandu i.e Pashupatinath. Located at the bank of the river Bagmati, it is approximately 5km northeast of Kathmandu. Dedicated to Lord Shiva yearly thousands of Hindu devotees from all over the country visit this temple. Then we will visit Guheshwori which is 1 km east of Pashupatinath. Dedicated to Adi Shakti, it is believed that this temple is the Shakti chair of Pashupatinath Temple. King Pratap Malla built this temple in the 17th century. Lastly, we will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square which is located at the heart of Kathmandu. Several temples inside Durbar Square reflect ancient art and architecture. Then, we will spend our remaining time visiting the Royal Palace, Hanuman Dhoka inside the complex of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu
After breakfast, we will drive to another Hindu Temple in Kathmandu, Dakshinkali. The temple is located 22 km from Kathmandu outside the village of Pharping. It is one of the Hindu temples where Goddess Kali is worshipped. People sacrifice animals particularly Male goats, Cockerels and cocks, and hens. This temple has the same religion as that of Pashupatinath and Manakamana. So, from Dakshinkali temple, we will drive to Swayambhunath, which is one of the oldest heritage sites of Kathmandu, probably 2500 years old. It is an ancient religious complex at the top of the hill. The view of the whole Kathmandu Valley, as well as some snow-capped peaks, can be seen from the top of Swayambhunath. Moreover, it is one of the heritage-listed in the UNESCO world heritage list. The stupas have unique features with a variety of shrines, temples, and Buddha’s eyes and eyebrows painted on them.
Early morning after breakfast we will drive for 4 hours and reach another Hindu temple in Gorkha, Manakamana. We will then experience 10 min of the cable car ride above the hills, enjoying the natural landscapes below, and experience the true dignity of the Manakamana temple. It is a sacred place of Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati. The temple is four-storied with pagoda-style roofs and set in a square that looks across a massive sacred magnolia tree. The word “mana” means heart and “Kamana” meaning wish in Nepal. Therefore, it is believed that one’s wish will be granted in this temple. After visiting the temple, we will again ride a 10 min cable car and return. We will have our lunch and continue our drive to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, if we have time, we will stop at Benas Tal. However, boating there is optional. We will then drive to the hotel in Pokhara. In the evening, one must go out to attend the live music or cultural shows in Pokhara. This is what night in Pokhara is famous for. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
Pokhara is naturally the most stable city in Nepal. It is one of the famous tourist places for it offers a stunning view of the snow-capped peaks as well as is naturally rich in terms of views and sightseeing. But besides, natural views there are several temples and monasteries in Pokhara. Starting the day with the early sunrise view from Sarangkot, we will then drive down to the city and visit Tal Barahi. It is located in the middle of Phewa lake. Tal Barahi is a two-storied pagoda temple which is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Durga. We have to take a boat from the lakeside to reach the temple. From Tal Barahi, we will visit Bindabasini Temple, the oldest temple in Pokhara city which was founded in the 17th century and sacred to Goddess Durga. Pokhara is popular as the city of the caves. So, we will visit Mahendra cave, Gupteshowr cave, Bat cave, Birendra cave, etc. Later, we will visit David’s fall and the Seti River Gorge. In the evening, the street of Pokhara is full of concerts and gigs. The nightlife of Pokhara is something to brag about. so, you can either go for the live music or enjoy the traditional performance in Pokhara at night. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara
Early morning after breakfast, bidding farewell to Pokhara, we will drive back straight to Kathmandu. The drive approximately takes about 7-hour including the stops. The drive lets you experience some of the panoramic scenarios along the way. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will have dinner at some typical Nepali restaurants. Then later at night, you can stroll around Thamel or go for the live music in Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
